Space is a specialized architectural monthly which was first published in 1966 and has been at the vanguard of covering the arts and culture scene here in Korea ever since. The magazine features not only architecture, but also diverse cultural and artistic activities across the spectrum of the fine arts. Space offers its readers a wide variety of architectural news throughout Korea, in Asia, and the world in general. Designing the Process: Yong Ju Lee Architecture 프로세스를 설계하다: 이용주건축스튜디오

조금 이상한, 살짝 개인적인, 하지만 단단한 A Little Strange, Slightly Personal, Yet Solid • 이용주는 공간의 모든 층위에서 실험성을 추구하는 건축가다. 그는 일상에 새로운 자극을 불어넣을 수 있는 건축을 다양한 스케일과 매체로 탐구해왔다. 국립현대미술관, 뉴욕현대미술관, 베니스비엔날레 등에서 전시에 참여했으며, 대한민국 공공건축상, iF 디자인 어워드, 「아키텍처럴 레코드」의 디자인 뱅가드 등 국내외 디자인상을 다수 수상했다. 연세대학교와 컬럼비아 대학교에서 건축을 공부했으며, 현재 서울과학기술대학교 건축학부 조교수로서 로보틱 패브리케이션 스튜디오를 이끌며 연구와 창작의 경계를 넘나들고 있다. 저서로 『생각의 구축』(2024)이 있다. Yong Ju Lee is an architect who pursues experimentation across all layers of space. His works, spanning diverse scales and media, seek to provoke and inspire everyday life. He has exhibited at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA), Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), and the Venice Biennale, and received the Korea Public Architecture Award, iF Design Award, and Architectural Record's Design Vanguard. He studied architecture at Yonsei University and Columbia University, and is currently an assistant professor at Seoul National University of Science and Technology, leading the Robotic Fabrication Studio. He published Constructing Thought (2024).

자기 진술과 자기 비평 사이에서 좌표 찾기: 〈안티-셀프: 나에 반하여〉 Locating the Coordinates Between Self-Statement and Self-Critique: ‘Undoing Oneself’ • 강홍구, 김나영&그레고리 마스, 김옥선, 김지평, 하차연 등 중견작가 다섯 명(팀)을 조명한 전시 〈안티-셀프: 나에 반하여〉가 아르코미술관에서 10월 26일까지 진행됐다. 한국문화예술위원회의 작가조사-연구-비평 지원사업과 연계해 마련된 이번 전시는 자기 자신을 비평하고 참조하면서 예술 세계를 개진해나가는 중견작가들의 여정을 다룬다. 고유의 언어를 성취한 예술가들에게 과거를 다시 돌아본다는 것은 어떤 의미인가? 과거의 나를 딛고 현재의 나로 나아가는 도전은 어떻게 드러나는가? 비평과 실천 사이를 오가는 예술의 수행적 과정을 전시의 형식 안에 담아내고자 한 기획의 전략과 방법론, 그 의미를 들여다보았다. The exhibition ‘Undoing Oneself’, which shone a light five mid-career artists (or teams) – Kang Hong-goo, Nayoungim & Gregory Maass, Oksun Kim, Kim Jipyeong, and Ha Cha Youn – was on show at the ARKO Art Center until the 26th of October. ‘Undoing Oneself’ is part of the programme that highlights mid-career artists, a culmination of Arts Council Korea's Mid-Career Artist Support Project and Artist Research-Study-Critique Support Project. The exhibition explores the paths of these mid-career artists, tracing how they engage in acts of self-critique and self-reference as they articulate their artistic worldview. What does it mean for artists who have achieved their own unique visual language to revisit the past? How does it reveal to move from one's past self to their present self? SPACE looked into the meaning of such a curatorial strategy and the methodologies that informed this exhibition, which sought to capture the practice and process of an art that oscillates between critique and practice.
